To get to Yushima Tenjin, with its wonderful view overlooking Benten-sama (Goddess of Mercy) in Shinobazuno Pond, women and children took the slower "Onna-zaka" slope, while men took the steeper "Otoko-zaka" slope.
不忍池の弁天様を見下ろす景勝の地・湯島天神へは、女性と子供は勾配の緩やかな「女坂」を、男性は急勾配の「男坂」を登った。
