Boating on the Sumida River, a summer tradition. The pine tree in the center of the river was called "Matsu of the Tails" because customers on their way to Yoshiwara would sit under the pine tree and talk about their plans to get close to Yoshiwara girls.

夏の風物詩・隅田川の舟遊び。中央の松は、吉原へ向う客らがこの松の下で今宵の首尾を語り合ったことから「首尾の松」と呼ばれていた。
